We made our journey from a small South Carolina town to Harvard. To walk on the campus and through the doors of the University where dreams surely come true.
In my adult life, I had never met anyone that had attended Harvard University or even applied at Harvard. In South Carolina you either want to be a Gamecock or a Tiger which to most South Carolinians is the pinnacle of one's life. Harvard just never seemed real.
We came by train and had reached Boston late into the evening. Our first glance of Harvard wasn't until the next morning when we arrived at the gates that lock in the mysteries of Harvard. These gates seemed magical with the snow making it seem as if they held within them some magnificent secret that we would soon know.
The buildings all seemed more spectacular with their white roofs and snow covered dormers. The entire courtyard was one huge square of blinding white snow where we made our own path until we reached Sever Hall. Our group was not prepared for such weather, and definitely not prepared for the magnitude of being at Harvard.
This experience is one that our entire group will never forget and the memories of snow covered Harvard will always make it seem as unreal as we thought.
